With 888 25, either 8882 or 8885 are equivalent. When I hit my quick quad on my Feb. Vegas trip, my g/f was next to me, and I asked her which kicker she wanted me to hold since it didn't matter. She made a good choice...lol

ahhhhhhh crap I am addicted to QQ now. Played it for the first time over the weekend and on the first few hands I hit 77761, the machine yelled at me quick quads and now I like it. About 10 min later I got dealt 99936 and again it yelled at me. I was glad it did because I may not have realized and not held all 5 cards.
I was trying to figure out the strategy by looking at WoO but I am not sure what to do if I am dealt something like 888 2 5. Does it matter which I hold. When I was playing I would generally just hold the lower of the numbers. I understand that if I am dealt 66634 that I would not want to hold the 3 since there are only 3 more threes but there are 4 more 2s. Just not sure about the first scenario.
Yes, the idea to have the machine scream 'Quick Quads' was marketing gold. It not only is appealing to the player, but is noticed by those nearby, thus drawing attention to the game. Especially on 100 play machines, when you get a correct starting combination like 88825, I think the expected number of qq is 8.5, and the machine keeps shouting 'quick quads', 'quick quads', etc, etc.
I'm not 100% familiar with the strategy to play in the casino, but am working on it with on videopoker.com. I don't think in your scenario of 88825, it makes any diffence which kicker you keep.
If you think QQ is addictive, try triple play QQ + wheel poker. Every time it yells quick quads you get to spin a wheel.

Lately I feel bla about playing JOB. I just don't like how you only get 125 for a 4oak. JOB is a slow grind when you are making money unless you get a royal.
I love DDB because of the 4oak that pays 250, the AWAK, and 234WAK. However since 2 pair pays 1:1 it is a quick death if you can't get a royal or 4oak.

I guess I am looking for a game that pays the 2:1 on 2 pair but has the better paying quads but maybe not the high paying A/2/3/4. Does this exist?

Sure, you want good ol' fashioned Bonus Poker, four 5-K still only pays 125 on Max Bet, though, but you get better payouts for A/2/3/4 and eat it on the FH's and the Flushes, rather than Two Pair.

The Basics of Quick Quads Video Poker
By: Joan Peppin, Thursday August 13th 2015The last big innovation in video poker took place when Microgaming launched the Level Up series and some other online casino software providers came up with similar versions. Another shift is due. The focus is so much on online slots these days that it is difficult to say when a different kind of video poker game will arrive at online casinos. It may come as a surprise to many, but land casinos have more variety in video poker machines. One appropriate candidate for making the shift to online casinos is the Quick Quads series.
A Quad is a typical video poker term for a four of a kind hand. For example a hand of S5, H5, D5, C5 and H8 is a quad of fives. A Quick Quad is a deemed four of a kind hand that actually has only three cards of the same rank. The ranks of the other two cards add up to the rank of the three of a kind card. An example of a Quick Quad is S5, H5, D5, C2 and H3. This is because 2 and 3 add up to five. Some other examples of Quick Quads are S8, C8, D8, H3 and H5 and S9, H9, D9, C6 and C3.
Bonus Poker Free
There are some ground rules about forming Quick Quads. An ace will always count for one point. The picture cards of jacks, queens and kings do not have any points. Therefore, any hand that has a picture card in the three of a kind segment or in the remaining two cards cannot be a Quick Quad. Hence SJ, HJ, CJ, H6 and S4 is not a Quick Quad. Also you cannot have a Quick Quad of aces because the sum of two card rankings cannot be 1. You can only have Quick Quads from twos to tens.
Because Quick Quads video poker gives you additional ways of forming four of a kind hands, there has to be a price to pay. The maximum bet is six coins instead of the usual five coins and the Quick Quads facility only comes into play when six coins are wagered. The following video poker variants are available as Quick Quads games: Jacks or Better, Bonus Poker, Double Bonus and Double Double Bonus. When playing Quick Quads at land casinos you need to check out the payout table carefully because the same variant can have loose and tight machines.
